Mineral Water

Mineral water can be defined as water that contains minerals or various dissolved substances. These extras will modify water’s taste and can offer therapeutic value in certain circumstances. There are different substances that are easily dissolved when in contact with water. The most common examples can be given in gases, sulfur compounds and various existing salts.

There are a lot of cases in which mineral water appears effervescent. You should know that it can happen naturally and it can also be prepared. Do not confuse carbonated water with mineral water. The two terms might seem synonyms but they are not. Carbonated water is mineral water that has been carbonated. Tap water is not carbonated.

In the past most mineral waters out there were drank directly at the source. This was done in order to get some sort of cure that was associated with the water that was coming out of a particular spring. Sites were mineral waters occurred naturally were considered baths, spas and there were even simple wells that were visited by health enthusiasts from around the world. A spa is a place where mineral water was used for baths or simply consuming. Baths are places were mineral water is not drunk but baths do happen. Wells are places where you would only drink the water and not bathe in it. Most mineral water springs around the world are present in a connection with special tourist centers and led to the expansion of hydropathic hotels and spa towns.

Nowadays we can find bottled mineral water, which is packed and distributed. There are only few people that now choose to directly go to the source. Also, different areas have been bought and you can not access them anymore. The reason behind this is that companies have bought the areas so that they can harvest the mineral water present. You should be aware of the fact that we now have around 3000 mineral water brands that are available around the world. This basically means that it can be quite difficult to know what you should buy. The good news is that there are many specialists that can tell you exactly what you would need and point you in the right direction. Also, every bottled mineral water brand has specific guidelines for what it is useful. Only choose the brand that can aid your body as it would be a waste of time and money if you buy mineral water that is not suitable in your case.
