Drinking Water
Drinking water can be defined as water that can be drunk without facing any long term or short term risk. Sometimes we refer to it as potable water. What is interesting is that just 5% of all the drinking water that can be found in developed countries is actually drunk or used in order to prepare food. The rest of the water is used for various other tasks like washing or is simply wasted. Unfortunately there are many regions around the world that see people ending in drinking water that is not potable. This usually happens because the water contains pathogens or disease vectors. Whenever such water is found we have to understand that it is not of drinking quality and should not be consumed no matter what.
In the majority of cities we find water supply networks. They are the ones that actually supply our homes with water. If the network becomes contaminated it can lead to a lot of problems for all the people that drink it. Contrary to what you might believe, drinking contaminated water is a major problem all around the world. It is actually a major death cause that should not be taken lightly.
The local authorities are responsible for making sure that tap water is always of the highest quality possible. Whenever natural disasters happen and drinking water ends up contaminated people should stop drinking from regular water sources at all costs. In this case the only real solution to remain healthy stands in drinking bottled water.
The human body requires large quantities of drinking water in order to stay healthy and hydrated. Although there are a lot of specialists out there that claim you need to drink a fixed amount of water daily, you need to be aware that very individual is different. We all need different quantities of drinking water. Statistics show that the medium amount required daily s of 3.7 liters of water. A good rule of thumb is to drink a glass of water whenever you feel thirsty. Athletes and people that live an active life will require more.
In order to make sure that your tap water is of the highest quality possible we recommend that you also install a water filter. Although the water that comes through the pipes should be of high quality, it is always better to make sure that the water you drink is pure at all times. A water filter can aid you in achieving just that.
