Water
Potable Water
Potable water can be defined as being any type of water that can be consumed by us or basically any animal. We can also refer to it as drinking water, the two terms being almost synonyms. We should know that we can find water that is potable water naturally. The best example can be given in a pristine spring. Water might also need special treatment in order to become potable. No matter how it is obtained, in order to make sure that the water is fit to be drunk tests have to be performed. During this there is a search for contaminants that can cause us harm.
Fresh Water Supply Problems
3 quarters of the entire surface of our planet is covered by water and at a first glance we might think that there are no possible problems when talking about fresh water supply. The problem is that only a small part of the water we see is basically fresh water that is not trapped in ice. Contrary to what you might believe, half of the fresh water supply of the entire world is found in South America with Asia holding just one quarter. The rest is split between remaining continents. You should know that most of our fresh water supply actually goes into agriculture and simply growing food.
Water Desalination
According to statistics, every 20 years the quantity of water that is consumed is doubled. This basically means that the growth rate is twice the one we see in population growth. In 2006 we have seen a demand of water that exceeded water supply by around 55%. This is quit an alarming percentage and has brought in a need to look towards different water sources in order to cope with water demand. Unfortunately fresh water supply is constantly decreasing and demand for industry purposes, people and food is constantly rising.
Common Water Issues
There are numerous water issues that can be mentioned and the truth is that it is very hard to talk about all the problems that can appear in connection with water. This is because different regions can have different problems. On the other hand there are some common water issues that appear in most places around the world. Out of all of them pollution is definitely the one water issue that is the most disturbing.
Making Salt Water
There are many people out there that might want to make salt water for different possible reasons. No matter what your reasons are you should know that it is pretty easy to create a good salt water solution. Once we get one bottle that is basically 100% salt water we can easily dilute it when needed. The trick in creating any salt water solution in a fixed percentage stands in the fact that you need to first create the 100% salt water solution first. After that you can easily dilute from 1% to 99%, according to your personal wishes.
Water Shortage
When talking about water shortage we can refer to 2 different things: drought and water crisis. In most situations we are referring to a water crisis. In this type of water shortage we are talking about a problem in the connection between present water resources and human demand. When dealing with water crisis we are also referring to usable water scarcity and problems with water pollution.
Fresh Water
Fresh water is a term that can mean different things. In most situations when we talk about fresh water we are referring to drinking water that is fresh or has a refreshing effect for us. On the other hand we can also talk about a more general term, which is usually spelled “freshwater”. Freshwater is basically a term that links every single water body. This includes streams, lakes, rivers and ponds. You have to be aware that brackish water and seawater is not associated with freshwater.
Water Treatment
We all heard about water treatment in the past but few people really know what it is. Water treatment can be described as a series of processes that will make water useful for a particular use. Contrary to popular belief, water treatment does not only relate to making water potable. We can use processes in order to create drinking water, water that is to be used in medical purposes and a lot more. Basically water treatment aims to remove some contaminants that are present in water or alternatively reduce the concentration in which they are present.
Water Filters
We all know that water comes from rain. It then falls on the earth in different water streams and it takes in minerals and basically energy that are important for us. We drink water and in this way we also get some necessary minerals the will make us feel better. Leaving that aside, water is basically crucial for us to live as our body is made out of water in a very large percentage. Failure to drink enough water can lead to dehydration. The good news is that most homes around the world have access to tap water. The bad news is that this water is not always of the necessary quality.
Water Filtration
A lot of people are currently talking about water filters and water filtration and it is very easy to understand why. We constantly see that more people daily turn towards bottled water because of them being better when thinking about our health. Also, the taste factor should not be taken lightly. In most situations bottled water does taste better than tap water. The problem is that tap water is a lot less expensive. If you are a heavy bottled water drinker and you see how much you spend on such products every single month you would be surprised.
