Vitamins for Hair Loss during Dieting

The medical name usually used for hair loss is Alopecia. It can happen on any part of the body that has hair although it will usually show up on the scalp first. A healthy individual does lose hair. It is perfectly normal to shed around 50 to 100 hairs every single day. At any moment of our life we do have hair growing and some will be in a resting stage (growth stopped) and there is even a falling-out stage visible. What is not always understood is that pattern baldness (sometimes referred to as permanent hair loss) is a natural process that is a result of genetic programming. An increase in hair loss and a temporary time frame when hair falls at higher rates than the ones mentioned above is caused by different reasons. This includes genes, hormones, age, diet, poor nutrition, medication, stress, chemicals, rapid weight loss, radiation treatment and so on.

Nutritional deficiencies can lead to hair loss because the hair is weakened and growing slowly as there is a lack of needed nutrients. This can easily happen when dieting because a diet usually means lack of some foods. A good diet is crucial for our hair to look as we want to and any hair problems that are caused by nutritional deficiencies are corrected through a proper diet. When dieting to lose weight we are talking about a short time frame and sometimes we will not notice impact on our hair. Also, as a regular diet is taken back as a day to day basis, our hair will quickly recover. It is a misconception that hair ends up destroyed fast. It takes some time for an improper diet to have a direct impact on the quality of our hair. The most important nutrients that will have an impact on hair are vitamin A, B Vitamins, Biotin, Vitamin C, iron, zinc, protein, copper and water. It is highly important that we take in the needed quantities of all of these in order to maintain the hair we want. The problem is that during dieting we can rarely do this as we do eat less and not as varied as needed. The end result can be hair loss and there is only one real solution for that: vitamin and mineral supplements.

You need to know that there is no such thing as a vitamin supplement aimed towards hair care. Hair care products and vitamin supplements are two different things. Vitamin supplements are needed for much more than hair quality maintenance and they have this as a good side effect to taking them. On the other hand, if your goal is taking care of your hair you need to switch this thinking towards taking care of your entire body. Bad hair is a reflection of something going wrong inside our bodies and good looking hair and normal growth is a sign that everything is working properly. Dieting is not about reducing quantities of vitamins and mineral your body receives and this is a very bad approach that does lead to hair loss in a lot of cases. Supplement any diet with vitamin and minerals supplements in the right quantities and this will be avoided.
