Women and Vitamins

For a long time now women have avoided taking multivitamin supplements and this is a bad approach. Only thanks to recent studies women have started to understand the importance of vitamins in their day to day diets. The truth is that we all need to meet the daily minimum requirements of ALL vitamins in order to live a healthy life. Failure to do this will lead to a lot of problems from a decrease in sex drive to hair loss. These are just two of the conditions that can affect women and two of the ones that really start raising question marks in one’s life. When talking about women and vitamins the facts are very simple. All should take the needed vitamins and there are some differences in the female body when compared to the male body. This basically means that women should pay more attention to some vitamins that man do not need in the same quantities.

There is no question in the fact that we do need all vitamins but there are some that we need to pay more attention to. First on the list is, of course, the so called king of vitamins, vitamin C. Whenever a health problem appears this vitamin is helpful because it is a very powerful antioxidant that aids a lot by strengthening the immune system. If our immune system is strong there is a lot less chance that something bad will happen as the body is stronger and can fight problems better. It is recommended that you take vitamin C in a combination with vitamin E as they both act in a connection and they will make the other’s results better.

Always include vitamin D in your diet with a daily value of around 800 to 1000 ius. This quantity is higher in women as compared with men and should be met. Not the same can be said of vitamin A, which is dangerous if you take in too much. Even small excess will lead to the possibility of birth defects, various disorders and liver problems.

The truth is that when talking about women and vitamins we do need to know that they need increased quantities of calcium, vitamin D, magnesium and vitamin K in their diet. The problem is that this information is known and should not lead to a misinterpretation. Some women end up thinking that these are the most important and they will neglect others like folic acid for instance. Folic acid is highly important for women, especially those that want to get pregnant. The same can be said with zinc and numerous other nutrients. This is why you have to consider purchasing a good multivitamin supplement that has been created with a formula suitable especially for women. The good news is that there are hundreds of products on the market and if you take a look at your regular day to day diet and notice the lacks you have in it you will surely understand which one to chose. The alternative is purchasing an all around multivitamin supplement that also includes minerals and other important nutrients.
