B Vitamins for Depression in Women

For most people it sounds very odd but vitamins for depression in women are very useful and there are many mental symptoms that are actually caused by a deficiency of certain vitamins. A lot of research has been done on this topic and we now know that both anxiety and depression can be countered with the use of some vitamins. This includes B complex vitamins, vitamin D and vitamin C (yes it does appear in most cases and it is always useful).

B complex vitamins can not be stored in our bodies and this is a huge problem as they need to be taken on a daily basis. They are also destroyed by nicotine, caffeine, refined sugar and alcohol so you should not be surprised if you abuse these elements and have a lack of B vitamins in your bodies. The truth is that B vitamins for depression in women are highly important. A deficiency usually appears in senior women due to an incomplete absorption of nutrition in older age. Vitamin B1 deficiency can cause irritability, depression, anxiety, fatigue, loss of memory, confusion, loss of appetite, constipation, abdominal pain, insomnia and disturbed sleep. Also, an intake of high amounts of refined carbohydrates can drain the supply of vitamin B1 found in our bodies. We also have vitamin B3 on the list and the good news with it is that deficiency rarely can happen. If it is a reality symptoms that can appear include dementia, mental slowdown, physical slowdown, anxiety, depression and agitation. Do not neglect vitamin B6 because it plays a very important role in the creation of serotonin (a brain chemical that regulates your mood). Slight deficiency of this vitamin can cause skin disorders, cracked lips, mental confusion, depression, nervousness, weakness and irritability. Another vitamin for depression in women is vitamin B9, which is inevitable for the synthesis of DNA and new cell formation. A poor diet that leads to deficiency can cause insomnia, apathy, fatigue, forgetfulness, anxiety and depression. Vitamin B12 is also highly important due to its essential role in the formation of red blood cells and even maintaining your nervous system healthy. A deficiency will usually be triggered by an impaired absorption and in only few cases from low dietary intake. Strict vegetarian diets can lead to B12 deficiency and the symptoms associated include numbness and tingling of the limbs, a sore mouth and tongue, anemia, weakness, memory loss, confusion, hallucination, depression and dementia.

It is recommended that you take B vitamins for depression in women supplements in a complex form that is combined with Vitamin C, Vitamin D and other minerals that have been proven to be effective. There are even hundreds of products on the market that are designed to provide the vitamins and other nutrients that can cause depression and they are really helpful for most women. If depression does not disappear after taking supplements make sure that you consult a doctor as you might be suffering from a more serious problem that is causing this symptom.
