There are a lot of people that think that vitamins and testosterone for men are highly important for their bodies. The fact is that they are right but the link between the two is not as high as some think. In order to properly understand this we need to talk about what testosterone really is and why is it so important for men. Testosterone is a steroid hormone that is a part of the androgen group. In all mammals it is secreted in the ovaries of females and testes of males together with small quantities being secreted by adrenal glands as well. Testosterone is the most important male sex hormone while also being an anabolic steroid.

Contrary to popular belief, testosterone is highly important for both men and women. This is because it is highly important in general health and sex functions. It aids in enhancing libido, protecting against osteoporosis and increasing energy. On the other hand, a male body will produce around 40 to 60 times more testosterone than a female body although females are a lot more sensitive to this hormone.

As you can see, testosterone for men is highly important and deficiencies can lead to a lot of problems. That is why sometimes there is a need to take testosterone directly although this only happens in extreme cases and your doctor should be the only one that should prescribe this hormone as therapy. Keep in mind that anabolic steroids are usually illegal in sports and you should not take them unless really needed. A different approach stands on this link between vitamins and testosterone for men, a link that stands in vitamin A. There has been a lot of research done lately and the results suggest that vitamin A is highly important in the production of testosterone. Medical tests showed that vitamin A will cross the blood testis barrier under alcohol form as retinol, being stored in the Sertoli cells and then converted as it will be needed into retinoic acid (its more active form). A higher concentration of vitamin A in the testes will increase basal testosterone secretion together with another substance called transferrin, which is responsible for iron transport. Vitamin A presence will also have more impact on the body by increasing other growth factors like IGF-binding protein 4, transforming growth factor-beta, androgen-binding protein and steroidogenic acute regulatory protein. Vitamin A will also have an impact on estrogen in males as it reduces its production in testes.

Vitamins and testosterone for men are linked to some degree but do not believe that a multivitamin product will help in the production of testosterone unless it has an accent on vitamin A. We live in a world of marketing and there is absolutely no sense in believing something that is not true. The best way to handle this situation is to eat liver, as it is rich in vitamin A and make sure that your children also receive enough of this testosterone linked vitamin in order to obtain proper growth.
