Vitamin C for the Healthy Heart

There are some vitamins for the healthy heart that can work in order to aid you a lot when talking about general well being and particularly a positive effect on our heart. One of these vitamins is Vitamin C. So many people overlook it when looking for connections between vitamins and the healthy heart we all want because vitamin C is a crucial nutrient for a lot of processes that happen inside our bodies. When a talk about vitamin C is started we will rarely notice anyone talk about the impact it has on heart so it is important to be aware of this fact.

The recommended dose of vitamin C intake for adults is half to 4 grams daily. We need to be more around or a little over the minimum dose when in good health and higher when dealing with illness. Always remember that if you are prone to oxalate type kidney stones you have to stay under 1 g daily and always drink enough water. You must also pay attention to have low salt, low protein and high calcium foods in your diet and preferably with a combination of high quality in vitamin B6.

Vitamin C is good for the healthy heart because it is an antioxidant. This means that it works in close relationship with Vitamin E, keeping blood vessels healthy. It aids in raising good cholesterol levels and lowering bad cholesterol levels. This is highly important as bad cholesterol can get tangled up in blood vessels and cause clots. Such a situation will make your heart work overtime constantly, not to mention that there will be parts of your body that will not get enough blood. To make it even better, vitamin C also speeds up bowel, will reduce the length and severity of colds and will have an overall general impact as it improves general health of the entire body.

Vitamin C can be taken alone and there are a lot of supplements that will only contain this vitamin. While this is recommended when there is a need to have more of the vitamin in our bodies, it is not when talking strictly about having the healthy heart you are looking for. In this situation it needs to be taken in a connection with Vitamin E because the two vitamins work best together in aiding your heart. Also, you must never neglect B vitamins as three of them are highly important as well, although they will usually come in a combination with other B vitamins so there is a high chance that the best solution is a B complex vitamin supplement.

Do not forget your diet as food is a valuable source of vitamins for the healthy heart and avoid everything that can be damaging. This, combined with the right dietary supplements based on specific vitamins for your heart, is the best way to live a healthy life from a general point of view and to avoid a lot of heart related issues.
