Vitamins for Eyes
Eye vitamins are quite easily available without a prescription, with exception of few, where some people who have AMD and might need a stronger dosage. Many important vitamins for eyes, over the counter are often cheap and offer most or all of the vitamins and nutrients, which are essential for eyes. Usually, their dosages range from 1 to 4 pills a day but these may differ, according to the amount of vitamins and minerals in each pill. It is always best to take a reasonable amount, as taking a higher dose might affect our eyes quite badly. Taking eye vitamins can keep our eyes well and healthy for a long time and they are great to protect them from many problems, too.
With our hectic lifestyle, it’s quite hard to stick to a healthy eating routine, containing all the vitamins and minerals, but eye vitamins are a great source for providing all the essential nutrients, that we need.
When choosing a proper eye vitamin, always look out for the one, which contains Vitamins A, C, E, B2 and minerals Zinc and Selenium. There are many eye vitamins available these days, which come with a new Lutein, containing antioxidant, and benefits our eyes in so many ways. It has been very useful, especially for the retina, lens and macula and thus it is suggested that having an appropriate amount of Lutein can help in keeping our eyes healthy.
One of the huge reasons behind sight loss in old aged people can be linked to an age-related macular degeneration – or AMD. It affects the retina of the eye, quite badly, thus causing an impaired vision and a loss of vision, in some cases. It can be treated with antioxidant vitamins. Whereas, Vitamin A can help towards treatment of Xerophthalmia, which is an attenuating condition, leading to childhood blindness. And if you are a smoker, the best option for eye vitamins, should be the one without any beta-carotene.
It has been proved that intake of lots of antioxidants in our everyday diet, would contribute towards perfect eyesight. That’s because when our vision weakens, the loss can be due to free radicals in our body. These free radicals develop habitually in our bodies, and act to destruct and harm the cells and they might have some connection to failing eyesight as well. At this stage, the antioxidants come into play by destroying these free radicals. So plenty of vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E in our food routines is a must, in order to secure our eye’s health and our all-important vision.
