Vitamin F Deficiency
We can safely say that vitamin F is not really that well known. We do not really know what the recommended daily dose should be and most supplements on the market do not even include vitamin F in the formula. Even if they do, in most cases it is referred to under other scientific names and it is hard for the regular individual to know that it is included. The biggest problem stands in the fact that vitamin F deficiency is possible and it can lead to a series of serious problems that affect our hair, skin, eyes and vision. This is exactly why you have to make sure that your diet includes vitamin F foods like oils, nuts, seeds or avocado. The problem is that few people know how to identify vitamin F deficiency. Let us think about what you can do if you suspect essential fatty acids are lacking from your diet.
The first thing you need to lack at is your hair. Whenever you brush your hair and too much hair remains on the brush instead of your head you might be suffering from vitamin F deficiency. Monitor hair loss when you comb, groom and shower for a number of days. It is very common to be faced with hair loss when you do not take in enough vitamin F. Your skin can also be affected. You would need to look for dry patches. If you notice scaly or flaky skin at a serious damage level vitamin F deficiency might exist. Eczema is one of the most common symptoms of such a condition. The eyes can also be affected. It is very common to notice chronic itchy, dry and red eyes. Vitamin F deficiency causes the tear ducts to eventually dry and not work well. A severe dry eye is usually treatable through increasing vitamin F intake.
Unfortunately vitamin F deficiency can also have a bad effect on blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Essential fatty acids are very important in maintaining these two elements in a safe range. Without enough vitamin F in our diet we can be faced with bad cholesterol levels rising to dangerous levels. You should also analyze how you heal. A deficiency can have a negative impact on the immune system. In this case wounds do heal at a slower rate and you can be faced with more often flu bouts, colds and minor infections.
