How Does Thiamine help with Gastric Bypass?
Thiamine is in nature under the form of a water soluble vitamin, which is naturally found in foods like legumes, nuts, peas, cereal grains, beef and pork. This vitamin is responsible for a number of metabolic processes, chiefly responsible for the processing of the carbohydrates. The body requires about 1.4 mg of thiamine as a daily supplement and this can be normally obtained from a normal daily food supplement. If there is a deficiency in supply of this vitamin, then this leads to many problems, especially metabolic problems, ulcer, mental changes, depression and so on.
Another severe dilemma is the case of gastric problem. To get rid of this problem one has to take care of the regular intake of the thiamine vitamin. After the problem of gastric bypass, it is found that there is difficulty in eating enough food to absorb this vitamin. Naturally some patients may face thiamine absorption problem. So a simple way to handle this problem is to supply the body with the sufficient thiamine vitamin to eradicate this case. A good supply of multivitamins and also regular thiamine supplementation will help. This thiamine supplementation comes in the form of products like chewing gums that are suitable even for children and a regular intake of with the correct amount of vitamin per day will do.
As this is a water soluble vitamin, it is easily absorbed and the extra quantities are excreted by the kidneys. Thiamine deficiency can be recognized by some symptoms like tough pouch, ulcer, and problems in talking food. This can be detected through the monitoring of the thiamine levels in the blood. So the initial step that always has to be followed to treat the problems like gastric bypass is to take the proper supplement as per the daily requirement. On the whole the gastric bypass due to thiamine deficiency can be treated if the diagnosis is done at the earlier stages by tracking the symptoms. Oral supplementation is the best way to intake the thiamine vitamin. After the initial intake, frequent blood thiamine levels should be checked and the dosage should be altered accordingly. So to get rid of the gastric bypass, these thiamine levels should be continuously monitored for every 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months. Thus a daily supplement of vitamin B1 of 100mg per day should be supplemented to fulfill the daily need and testing the blood thiamine levels frequently is also required.
