How does vitamin A affect smokers with lung cancer?

How does vitamin A effect smokers with lung cancer? Are there any benefits of vitamin supplements to other types of cancers? These are common question that many people come across.

Fruits and vegetable are known to help protect you from a range of cancers such as lung, oral, esophageal, stomach and colon. This is not some sort of assumption that people make. It’s just that there are a lot of studies that support this claim.

How does vitamin A effect smokers with lung cancer? This is not really known but one thing is that you can always make sure that you get enough of the vitamin from fruits and vegetables. They are the best source of antioxidants. Combining a number of different healthy compounds is probably the best way for you to make sure that you get all the vitamins and minerals that you need after you quit smoking. One good way is to make sure that you get 5 assorted servings of fruits and vegetable every day.

Vitamin supplements - It is easier to convince someone to take a vitamin pill than to fulfill their daily requirement of vitamins from food alone. It’s just that these vitamins are assimilated in the body to help certain physiological processes. The vitamin pills contain only a fraction of your daily requirements. Another important thing is that we are able to assimilate the vitamins better when they come from natural sources than when they come from the pill.

Clinical Studies - how does vitamin a effect smokers with lung cancer? This was checked out with the help of a clinical study where the benefits of beta-carotene and retinol were checked in cancer risk reduction. One odd reaction is that the intake of beta-carotene and retinol in the form of supplements actually increases the risk of lung cancer, especially among smokers.
Summary of findings - There was no statistical significant increase in the onset of cancer with people who took supplements when compared to those who didn’t. Even other vitamins such as vitamin E were investigated.

If you are taking supplements, do not discontinue it because of the apparent increased risk of lung cancer. Not taking the vitamins when you have a vitamin deficient diet could cause other serious health problems that are even more difficult to deal with.
