Banana

The banana, a fruit that can be found all around the year and is usually low priced can constitute a real source of energy and heath and we should take full advantage of its properties.

The variety witch is well known by population is the Cavendish banana, the popular yellow banana. But there are many other types of bananas that are less notorious. Amongst them, the one that is nearest to the common Cavendish banana is the dwarf Cavendish variety that does not exceed 10 centimeters in length. This is a very sweet banana, used especially when preparing fruit salads.

The Burro variety is much thinner, small and with a rather rectangular form. Baked, it tastes a lot like a sweet lemon.

The blue java banana is a smaller and rounder variety, with a color that varies from green to blue, and has a creamy sweet pulp. It’s especially used to prepare sweets.

The banana is a fruit with a high nutritional value. It is a good source of calories, being rich in solid elements, and the water composition is scarce. A banana can offer more than 100 calories. It contains a big easy to assimilate sugar quantity, witch makes it a great source of energy.

Being a good resource of vitamins (B2, B1, E, C, A) and minerals (ferum, sodium, potassium, magnesium, zinc, calcium and phosphor), bananas have a nervous equilibration effect and aid people under stress, in depressions, in case of the over solicitation of attention and nervous system. A study of banana consumption and intellectual supra - solicitation showed that because of the high potassium levels, bananas help students concentrate better and assimilate information easier. Also, bananas eaten between meals raise the blood sugar levels and eliminate tiredness.

Bananas have a protective role against chest cancer. Researchers explain that bananas contain elements able to improve cell regeneration and immune capacity. Persons that eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables a day present a cancer risk 40% lower than the rest of population.

A banana also contains considerable amounts of iron, and this is why it is the ideal aliment in case of anemia in kids. Because of the high potassium levels, bananas have a special role in the proper functioning of the nervous system and in regulating blood pressure. The potassium also helps us eliminate the unneeded water in tissues, so bananas can prove to be a great way to prevent cellulites.

Some say that bananas can even help you give up smoking. The potassium and vitamin B6 A and C contained by them reduce the nicotine urge and makes it bearable. The sugar contained also helps, giving the brain additional excitement and helping it focus on daily activities other than smoking.
