Avocado

Avocado is a tree that grows in Peru, Central and Southern America, but the term often refers to the fruit of this tree that has a shape very similar to that of a pear, of a dark green or violet brown color and the fruit flesh yellow green with a taste that reminds us of peanuts, or shall we say, peanut butter. The fruit contains a hard and big seed that looks just like an egg. The scientific name of the tree is the American Persaea but people often name avocado as the vegetal butter. The fruit contains large quantities of unsaturated fat acids that protect arteries and reduce cholesterol and it is also rich in folic acid, vitamin B6, potassium and other vitamins and mineral elements (vitamin E, vitamin C, copper, zinc, folic acid, magnesium, phosphor) The nutritive value of the avocado fruit varies between 130 and 350 calories per 100 grams.

Because the avocado is a relatively new product in most countries, his price is quite high compared to the price of other fruits. This is why, when you decide to buy an avocado make sure you chose the best fruits, that are fully ripen and can be easily pressed with your finger and that do not present any black spots or degraded portions. Once cut, the pulp will oxidize soon in contact with air.

The avocado tastes strange for a fruit. It is considered to be more of an aliment than a fruit because some even state it tastes like butter or very well boiled eggs. Of course it can get integrated in various culinary recipes and the buttery taste will then be used in other purposes.

It’s said that the avocado has aphrodisiac properties by stimulating the sexual impulses, and throughout history, certain people that had a conservatory social image refused to buy and consume it. The Aztecs named it the fertility fruit.

It’s the avocado pulp that is a natural aphrodisiac because of the stimulating enzymes it encloses. There are no studies that can properly demonstrate his sexual and fertility properties, but since ancient times the avocado was used in infertility conditions and recommended in dishes if a woman was trying to charm a certain gentleman. Also, prostitute houses existent during world war served avocado slices to soldiers, in order to stimulate their tired bodies.

There are many recipes that are based on the avocado’s aphrodisiac properties, one of them being the shrimp and avocado dish. For it you will need water, coconut milk, and the pulp of two avocado fruits, a few peppers, one onion honey and lemon juice and 300 grams of shrimps. Mix the coconut milk with the cut onion, peppers, the honey, lemon juice in a large bowl. Add salt and pepper, place the shrimp pieces, cover them and let them in the fridge for 30 minutes to marinate. Ten minutes before serving, peel off the avocados and mix them with spices. Add this sauce onto the marinated shrimps. This old recipe is believed to have miraculous love properties.
