Side Effects Of Taking Rutin
As with any supplement, there is always a risk of an adverse reaction. This is why it is always best to get the rutin your body needs through the ingestion of good healthy foods. Rarely do you see side effects of taking rutin when you are adding fresh fruit to your diet (unless you have food allergies). There are ways to reduce the occurrence of adverse reactions. Here are some of the side effects of taking rutin and methodologies you can use to prevent them.
Most reactions from taking rutin come from taking a supplement in tablet or liquid form. These reactions can include dizziness, upset stomach, diarrhea, rash, shortness of breath, and a swelling of the throat or tongue. If you experience these symptoms after taking your supplement, stop the supplementation and take the container to the doctor's office with you. The majority of these side effects are actually allergic reactions. It most likely is not the rutin causing the side effect, but other items in the supplement. Many people do not realize that supplements contain inert ingredients. These can be wheat products, soy or dairy coating, artificial colors and preservatives. All of these are known allergens. Shortness of breath, tongue or throat swelling is a serious reaction and you should seek medical help quickly if these occur.
You can avoid or reduce the changes of side effects of taking rutin. First, never exceed the recommended daily dosage. Current medical advice recommends between 200-600mg per day. As most tablets are found in the 500mg form, taking one tablet per day should be more than ample to meet your needs. Another way to reduce the onset of side effects is to know about the supplement you are taking. Read your labels. Are you allergic to any of the inert ingredients or other ingredients listed on the label? Where are the supplements made? The manufacturers name, contact information, batch number, lot number, and expiration date should all be clearly marked on the package. Make sure you check all of these. Finally, you may want to try using only all organic supplements whenever possible. If you decide on this route, look for a certification seal from one of the agencies that oversee organic foods.
Now that you know about the side effects of taking rutin and how to reduce your chances of experiencing them, try increasing your intake of fresh fruits and veggies first. It may be all that you need.
