Rose Hip

The rose hip is one of the most beautiful jewelry that decorates the hills, but it is also an resourceful aliment for human health, especially when trying to revitalize fast weak organisms and when preventing and fighting numerous diseases such as vascular deficiencies, liver and kidney problems, genital and digestive problems, lung conditions and nervous breakdowns.
The legend reminds of the ancient Greeks that claims Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, love, marriage and fertility, was in love with the beautiful Adonis. This couple was not to the likeness of Mars, the god of war who wanted Aphrodite for himself. When Mars tried to kill Adonis, Aphrodite run to help her loved one, but accidentally stung herself in a spiky rose hip. The drops of her blood fell down on the pink and white rose hip flowers and this way the red and perfumed roses are supposed to have appeared.

Because of their high vitamin count, the rose hip fruits return excellent results and are recommended in the lack of vitamins, and as a general tonic, especially for children, elderly people, anemic persons, persons that have neurological diseases and those suffering from tuberculoses or in convalescence. The efficiency grows during the cold time of the year, when the human body needs more and more vitamins in order to carry out its usual tasks. It’s a known fact that the daily amount of vitamin C needed is of 100 to 125 milligrams, and a bit more in the case of infectious illnesses, fever, physical and intellectual effort and in women that just gave birth.

To register an increase and fortification of the resistance to unfavorable factors, rose hips are effective if consumed as a tea, syrup, wine, marmalade or as dried fruits. The crushed rose hip fruits will be consumed as a prophylactic factor in cold seasons when the frequency of colds and infectious respiratory diseases is increased. Rose hip powder is three times more efficient as aspirin for the pain caused by osteoarthritis, according to a research study conducted by the Copenhagen University.

Further studies reveal that rose hips can be used to create a very competent anti – inflammatory drug, which might be able to control pain more proficiently than non –steroidal anti –inflammatory medical treatments. Rose hip powder does not present any of the common side effects that usual analgesics have.

The rose hip fruit is a natural source of vitamin C and antioxidants that hold antibacterial properties. This fruit holds the lead when it comes to vitamin C concentration per 100 grams.
