Quince Recipes
Amongst fruits, quinces enjoy a high appreciation from consumers because of their high and complex bio chemical content and their pleasant characteristic taste. If we consume fresh or cooked quinces, like quince compote, jam, jelly, nectar, our body benefits from an important quantity of simple sugars, easy to assimilate, mineral elements, vitamins and pectin substances.
Because the quince is a fruit that presents lots of uses, here are a few delicious quince recipes for you to try and enjoy.
Quince with Burnt Sugar
The necessary ingredients are: half a kilo of quinces, 100 grams of sugar (3 small spoons of sugar will be needed for burning) and a little vanilla sugar.
The quinces will be pealed and the seeds taken off, then cut into slices and boiled in sugar water and the rest of sugar will be burnt in a frying pan. When it’s golden, it will be chocked with the quince soup the quinces were boiled in. The quinces are placed in a bowl and the burnt sugar is poured over them. Then the vanilla sugar is added and along with the remaining quince soup they are placed again on the stove. It is ready when the water level decreases and only a thick sauce remains in the bowl next to the quince slices. You can serve this desert cold or hot.
Oven Baked Quince
Oven baked quinces are very easy to cook; they are rapidly prepared and return few calories. They can be served powdered with a bit of vanilla sugar or with rice and milk.
The necessary ingredients are just quinces and sugar. You will wash the quinces, cave a hole in the middle of each one and fill it with tossed sugar. More quinces will be arranged in a thermo - resistant plate or each quince in a porcelain cup and then they will get placed in the oven for approximately half hour. They are ready to server once baked, but they can also be consumed after they cool down.
Quince Dish
The quince dish is a cooked food that is usually consumed when meat and meat derivates are avoided.
You will need 5 quinces, 5 spoonfuls of vegetable oil, 2 spoonfuls of sugar and one of flour, salt. The quinces are washed and cut into slices, the seeds are taken out and the slices are fried in oil. In a cooking bowl the sugar will be burnt until before it gets dark brown, then a cup of water and the flour is added, stirring continuously so it won’t make clots. The quinces are added, and maybe some salt and they are all left to boil this way until the sauce gets thick.
