Rheumatoid Arthritis

The rheumatoid arthritis is a self immune illness that conducts to the apparition of chronic inflammations at articulation levels, in tissues surrounding articulations and sometimes in some internal organs. Autoimmune affections appear when the bodily tissues are mistakenly attacked by the body’s own immune system.

The immune system is a complex of cells and antibodies created to sick and destroy invaders, especially infections that attack the organism.

Patients suffering from autoimmune illnesses have in their blood antibodies that cause lesions to their own body tissues, in the places where they are mistaken with an inflammation. Because it can also affect internal organs, the rheumatoid arthritis means a systematic stream of conditions, sometimes being referred to as the rheumatoid diseases.

Although the rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic medical condition, witch means it can last for years and patients can live for a long period of time without showing any symptoms. Naturally, the rheumatoid arthritis is a progressive disease that holds the capacity of destroyed articulations or making them unusable.

An articulation is the place where two bones meet in order to make body part movement possible. Arthritis means inflammation at articulation levels. An inflamed articulation when it comes to rheumatoid arthritis means pain, swelling, stiffness and flushing of the respective spot. The inflammation of rheumatoid diseases can also appear on the tissues surrounding the articulations, like tendons, ligaments and muscles.

In some patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, the chronic inflammation may lead to cartilage, bone and ligament destruction, causing deformities in articulations. Studies show the progressive injuries are not always collated with the sensation of pain, stiffness or swelling.

The rheumatoid arthritis is three times more common amongst men than women. This medical condition can develop at any age, but it often appears in persons that have passed their 60s anniversary. Older people are more inclined to develop this condition because their immune system is not as accurate as the one of a younger person and the immune cells already have to fight numerous other infections and illnesses. This scenario raises the possibly of attacking own tissues by mistake. Once a tissue gets attacked, all the information that lead to it is stored in the immune cells, and all other cells will get programmed to attack that specific tissue and all other similar tissues found in the body.

This medical condition can prove to be very dangerous if not discovered and treated in time. In the rare cases when it starts attacking internal organs, medical interventions are urgently needed, this is why someone should be able to keep track of the development stage of your rheumatoid arthritis at all times.
