There are various forms of cancer in this world. Many of them affect both men and women. However, there are certain specific forms of cancer, which affect only the women section or the men section. The most deadly form of cancer that affects only men is the Prostate Cancer. It is a slow growing devil and over time eats up all the chances of a man’s survival. It is born in the prostate gland an over years, it spreads to the various parts of the body. It is dangerous! Medical science has differentiated in five major segments and named them as stages. The later the stage, the greater is the risk of death due to the cancer.
Prostate Cancer Stages:
• The first Prostate cancer stage is determined either by biopsy of the affected place of a blood test. The blood test includes the testing of the PSA (prostate-specific antigen) level in the blood. This first stage is clinically known as T-1. In this stage, there is a microscopic tumor, which remains confined within the prostate gland itself. It is because of this fact that the T-1 stage cancer is known as local cancer and is quite difficult to be detected by ultrasound or rectal examinations.
• The next stage is the T-2 stage. In this stage the cancerous tumor is detected by digital rectal exam. They can also be detected by using ultrasound. Even at this stage, the cancer is in its local form and the tumor remains confined within the prostate gland.
• The third stage is typically known as T-3. The cancer no longer remains local at this stage. The seminal vesicles as well as the tissues, which are close, start getting the impact. Now, the cancer becomes regional cancer. However, at this stage, the lymph nodes are not affected. It spreads to the area which is just beyond the prostate gland.
• The next stage is clinically known as T-4. Here the Prostate Cancer starts affecting the tissues and the organs, which are near the prostate gland. This is also in the regional stage.
• The final stage is known as N+ or M+. Here the Prostate Cancer is no longer regional or local. It starts to spread to the entire body and any of the body organs can be the victim. For instance the bone or even the lymph nodes. N+ category is the one where the lymph nodes in the pelvic region are attacked by the cancer. M+ defines the other regions and can be any organ bone or lymph node. The Prostate Cancer is here known as the metastatic cancer.
A proper treatment is required for each specific stage and these treatments vary according to the stages. A proper professional care is required to cope with this form of cancer!
