Vitamins Needed During Pregnancy
The right quantities of vitamins needed during pregnancy must be met if we are aiming towards a proper development of the fetus but this is not the only topic that needs to be discussed. There are some vitamins that are needed more during pregnancy and we do need to pay special attention to them. This includes eating properly so that they do come into our systems through food first and supplementing eventual lacks through good vitamins supplements for pregnant women. Now let us take a look at the most important vitamins needed during pregnancy.
Vitamins are nutrients that do have different special roles to play in the physiological state of the fetus and the mother. This does mean that we need to pay special attention that all the requirements are met. First on the list is vitamin A. It is highly important because it aids in improving vision and helps in maintaining the integrity of all cells. Then we must talk about vitamin D, an essential nutrient when talking about maternal calcium absorption and the calcium metabolism of the baby. Combine with Vitamin E, one nutrient that does help a lot as it prevents abortions and vitamin K, which can aid in preventing neo natal hemorrhages, something that is very dangerous to both the baby and the mother. Out of all vitamins the biggest attention needs to be paid to folic acid (commonly known as vitamin B6) and all the B vitamins in general. Folic acid is crucial as it promotes normal fetal growth and aids in preventing serious birth defects like spina bifida and it also prevents macrocytic anemia.
Special attention must be directed towards other factors besides vitamins needed during pregnancy. There are also some minerals that are highly important and we must also realize that the mother also needs proper quantities of fibers as constipation is a common problem during pregnancy. The well balanced diet that the pregnant woman must maintain has to include plenty fibers and it is recommended that they are obtained from whole grain cereals, whole pulses, vegetable soups, vegetables and fruits. Always drink enough water in order to maintain the body hydrated, prevent hemorrhoids, edema and to flush out extra toxins that can be produced during pregnancy.
Ideally speaking, vitamins needed during pregnancy need to be taken in from food but this is not always possible due to various possible factors from stress filled periods of time to low quality of nutrients in some foods. This is why we recommend that you supplement everything with a good vitamin and mineral supplement that contains a formula especially designed for pregnant women. In some cases regular vitamin supplements for women might be enough but if they are not you do need to go for something special. Always keep a close relationship with your doctor, respect what he is saying to the letter and all should work out fine for both the mother and the baby. Remember that everything starts with a proper nutrition and continues with being serious about pregnancy.
