Osteoarthritis is a disease that affects articulations. Half of us won’t have a radiography that shows we have osteoarthritis until we turn 65 and 10% of those that are 65 will have to suffer a great deal because of this disease. Osteoarthritis is considered to be a degenerative disease that leads to the progressive loss of the cartilage that encloses and lubricates articulations, but some of its symptoms come from the constant effort of our body to repair the damage by forming the parrot peckers, uneven proliferations of bone tissue. The entire surface of the articulation becomes harmed and the bone grows thicker.

Osteoarthritis is also known as the bone degenerative disease. It cam affect fingers, knees, ankles, hips, neck and the back bone causing rigidity, swelling and pain. It is generally considered a simple sign of getting old, result of the constant use of articulations, but it’s most common form, the primary osteoarthritis, is the one that debuts at middle ages. The secondary osteoarthritis can be the result of various traumas to articulations, including over soliciting them and infections or swelling caused by other diseases.

The best solution to try and prevent osteoarthritis is to keep your weight under control. The right way to do this is to respect a healthy equilibrated diet. You will need to eat as many fruits and vegetables as you can and regularly workout. The fiber concentration is important because:

-Fibers give a fullness sensation and have fewer calories, so it’s less likely to eat too much and gain weight.
- Fibers are great residue collectors, so they will collect all the inflammatory toxins and hormones that aggravate arthritis and will transport them outside the organism, reducing the risk of osteoarthritis pain.

You will also need to drink large quantities of water because hydration will help prevent arthritis. Articulations need to be moist if they are to move gently and freely, as a well lubricated machine. If you drink 2-3 liters of water each day you can help prevent osteoarthritis. If you are a great consumer of drinks like coffee and other diuretics that eliminate water from your organism you will need to drink even more water daily to make up for the loss.

Certain aerobic exercises can help reducing the pain. Even walking can help you. It is vital to do daily exercises to help reduce the rigidity; otherwise you can end up not being able to move at all. Even beginners in fitness can start with a half hour a day of exercises, inside their own home or at a specialized facility.
