Osteoarthritis Symptoms
Osteoarthritis is a hard and painful disease and diagnosing it quickly and early in its evolution can rescue the suffering person from years of insupportable pain.
Amongst the most common osteoarthritis symptoms we can count the pain, especially in hands articulations or hips, knees, legs and sometimes back pains. The pain is closely related to the activity that certain articulation has to do on a daily bases and become more powerful at the end of the day or after we end a period of activity. As the illness advances, pain can appear even if the articulations are not used or moving.
Another of the osteoarthritis symptoms is rigidity. This rigidity lasts less that an hour and it occurs after inactivity periods like: after we sleep, in the morning or subsequent to standing up after sitting in an unchanged position for a while. We can also experience limited articulation movements if not complete rigidity or pain when we tough the articulation and local tumefaction and bruises.
Sever osteoarthritis symptoms include the apparition of deformed articulations, irregular bone growth, accompanied by constant pain. If irregular growth appears from a normal, non-arthritic articulation it will be painless.
Osteoarthritis symptoms vary from minor to severe. Symptoms depend on the affected articulations. If the weight sustaining articulations are affected (ie. hips and knees) we can encounter more complications than in the case of osteoarthritis in hands or fingers.
Usually osteoarthritis is limited to a single set of articulations, like for example both hips. Nevertheless, it can have more than one outbreak pints in our bodies. Normally, osteoarthritis produces pain at the level of one or more articulations, and symptoms that affect the entire organism like fever, weight loss or rashes can not be count as one of osteoarthritis symptoms.
As osteoarthritis advances and becomes more and more severe, the symptoms can imply a total loss of the function of affected articulations. But this is a thing that rarely happens, and only to people that choose to ignore the constant pains and do not go to a doctor or do not follow the strict treatment they were given. If any pain if felt in fingers, knees, hips or back, one must urgently go to his doctor and consult with him, complete the necessary test and determine if he has osteoarthritis or not. Once diagnose is set, sever pain can be avoided and calmed with the help of a few drugs and general guidelines that need to be followed.
