Valvular Heart Disease

This type of disease is caused due to a condition that involves one valve or even more valves present in the heart. Our heart’s valves have different names. The valves on the right are pulmonary and tricuspid while those on the right are mitral and aortic. The problems that occur in the heart may be due to congenital reasons (they are there from the moment you are born) or due to some reasons that have developed in later stages in life due to different circumstances.

The treatment part of any valvular heart disease may vary from simple medication to surgery and valve repair. It all depends on the severity of the damage caused. The valve replacement would be done by inserting an artificial vale in the heart. Still, different cases of handling the problem arise when it appears during the pregnancy period. In a normal functioning routine of the heart, the blood must be pumped effectively with the right amount of force and correct pressure to maintain a healthy body. Therefore the valves play a significant role in the proper functioning of the heart and thus contribute to the heart’s efficiency. These muscle structures thus facilitate the effective flow of the blood and capitalize on the efficiency of the heart work. The working of the heart depends on the movement of the valves, which happen due to the contraction and the expansion of the heart muscles.

The valves act accordingly to the action and facilitate the flow of blood in our heart. So the articles and the ventricles open and close alternatively and blood flows in and out through these valves. The importance of the valves for the flow of blood is understood and always needs to be properly considered. Now the problem arises even when there is a slight trouble in any of the valves. Problems for the valves may be due to fatty deposits in the lines of the valves, thickening of the cell walls, narrowing of the valves and so on. If these problems occur the valve might not function properly. Even if there is a tiny block at any part of the value it might lead to a severe problem like cardiac arrest. It is like forcing the blood to the chambers of the heart, which automatically increases the blood pressure and might lead to a heart attack. Valvular disease arises due to these reasons but can not be properly understood by most people. In most cases patients think that they are just exhausted. We recommend that you always consider a visit to your doctor whenever you feel any discomfort that you can trace to your heart.
