Insoluble Fiber

Most of us are currently aware of the importance of fiber in the human diet. On the other hand, few know that there are two main types of fibers: soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. Let us now talk especially about insoluble fiber as there are different facts that you have to be aware of. You will find it in many plants and including them in your daily diet is very important to staying healthy and reducing the risks to develop a lot of possible health problems on the long run.

Insoluble fiber is basically dietary fiber that can not be broken down by our digestive system. This basically means that it will just go through our digestive tract. Insoluble fiber is needed due to the many benefits it brings to the table. Any diet that is high in both types of fibers will improve our overall health in different ways.

In most cases insoluble fiber is linked with its property of not being digested. This basically helps our body because it produces well sized and solid stools. The fiber also aids our stools in retaining more water. At the end of the day this combination is responsible for an easier passing of the stools through the intestine.

According to various health professionals insoluble fiber acts like a natural cleanser of our digestive tract. Due to the fact that it stays fibrous and solid it will go through our intestine and act basically like a sponge or brush. Different stray particles can clump with the insoluble fiber. As an immediate result they will be removed easier while bowel movements stay normal.

People that suffer from high cholesterol and obesity will also benefit from an insoluble fiber intake that is proper. It might also decrease risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and different intestine related problems. Also, when we eat insoluble fiber we are faced with feeling more fool. This fact aids in portioning what we eat and can have an important impact in weight loss.

When looking for dietary fibers in general you should know that most products out there are labeled and you will know the ones that include insoluble fiber. We recommend that you mainly consider nuts, zucchini, celery, whole grains, bran fiber and beans. Always eat the skin of your vegetables and include grains in your diet. If this is not enough then fiber supplements are always available to supplement your diet.
