Trans Fats
According to many scientific studies, if you consume trans fats, saturated fats and even dietary cholesterol you will be faced with bad cholesterol levels that are too high in your blood. Unfortunately this can lead to heart disease. The good news is that now you can read the exact quantities of each type of fat on the labels of most foods. This can make it possible to properly control cholesterol levels.
Trans fats basically appear when a manufacturer will add hydrogen in the composition of vegetable oil. Such a process is known as hydrogenation. This increases flavor and shelf life of all the foods that will contain such a form of fats. You will find trans fats in crackers, vegetable shortenings, cookies, some margarines, snacks and different other foods that include hydrogenated oils. There are also some quantities of trans fats that appear naturally in different animal foods. The problem with them is that they will raise dietary cholesterol. This is exactly why trans fats are always mentioned near saturated fats due to the same action these two categories of fats have.
You must understand that not all fats are the same and we do need them in order to live healthy. To put it simple, our body requires fats but it is our responsibility to offer them healthy fats. Trans fats are a part of the bad fats that we need to avoid. We can do this by simply comparing foods we buy. Simply read the label and always choose the foods that contain the smallest quantities of trans fat, saturated fat and cholesterol. Your diet needs to be balanced and keeping these bad fats at the lowest quantities possible is the best way to tackle the problem. We have seen a lot of people that think similar products basically contain the same ingredients. This is not at all true and it is always better to compare before you buy. Keep in mind that there is a huge chance that some of the foods you are already constantly eating contain trans fats or saturated fats. You might want to look at different sources or even different manufacturers that offer products without such additions. On the other hand, products that do not include trans fats will not last as long as those that do. This is exactly why you should also take a close look at the expiration date of the products you are purchasing.
