Healthy Fats

It is safe to say that fat has been considered a bad element in our diet for a long time. It has been labeled as responsible for high cholesterol levels and the development of heart diseases and obesity. The problem is that low fat foods are not really giving us the results hoped for in theory. We might even be faced with incapacity to control weight properly if we eliminate fat from our diet. Why does that happen?

Contrary to what you might believe, there is such a thing as healthy fats. In fact, you need to understand that a lot of fats are actually crucial for us staying healthy and living longer. The secret stands in reducing bad fat intake and working on gaining benefits from healthy fats. This will immediately reduce risks of ending up with chronic diseases. It has been proven that in order to lose weight you just have to reduce the calories you take in and not necessarily fat. For instance, if we go on a low fat diet that has more calories intake than we used to eat before you will surely end up with weight gains.

You need to properly understand the fact that healthy fats are crucial to us. They are used by our bodies in many actions. This ranges from cell membrane building to different key functions that are crucial for our lungs, eyes and brain. 60% of our brain is made out of fat and fatty acids are important for all cells because they keep them flexible and moveable. The energy of our heart comes in a proportion of 60% from the burning of fats. Different healthy fats are also highly important in keeping it beating at a constant rhythm. One really important aspect is directly related to digestion. Thanks to healthy fats we are faced with a digestion process that is slower. This gives the body time to absorb crucial nutrients. Also, all fat soluble vitamins can only be absorbed under the presence of fat.

In closing, the secret to weight loss does not stand in cutting out fats from our diet. The key element of weight loss is taking in fewer calories than we consume. A diet that lacks healthy fats can lead to a lot of problems and we will basically be faced with a body that is no longer working correctly. In order to avoid this we must make sure that fat is also included in our diet.
