Diabetes Nutrition
Diabetes is a health condition which has a number of rather severe consequences and even more worryingly there is to date, no absolute cure for it, and so the sufferer will have to contend with the management of their symptoms rather than the cure of them. One saving grace about diabetes is that it is a health condition that can be easily prevented although all of the evidence would seem to contradict this given that the number of diabetic sufferers is on the steady rise. Once regarded as a solely Westernised world phenomena, there have reports from medical professionals in China and Africa who have reported an alarming increase in the number of people contracting it and this has been attributed to the increase in economic prosperity in such areas which in turn has meant that people there have now reverted to a Western diet.
Diabetes nutrition education is by far, the most singularly most potent effect in helping people come to realise not only the potential and actual effects of this illness but also the most appropriate methods of preventing it. This article will itself provide you with a brief introduction to diabetes nutrition education, so let us begin with the manner in which diabetes is caused.
All animals will eat food in order to fuel the various complex chemical reactions that occur throughout the body and it should be noted that every single bodily function (respiration, thought, digestion, perspiration etc) will all require and consume energy up in order to enable them to occur. All foods will contain nutrients such as carbohydrates and proteins but the nutrient which we are most concerned about in relation to diabetes nutrition education is glucose. Whenever the food is broken down (digested) in the stomach, it is transported around the body via the red blood cells and then transported to every cell in the body.
The body produces a special hormone known as insulin which is used to regulate the glucose decomposition process and in order to prevent an overload of the substance.
If you suffer from diabetes, then diabetes nutrition is especially important because by having a carefully created diabetes nutrition plan you will be able to improve your diet and more carefully regulate your blood glucose level which will in turn enable you have a much higher degree of direct control over the frequency as well as severity of symptoms.
