Citrus Fruits
Grapefruit
The pink grapefruit is one of the grapefruit assortments that are present on the market. People tend to consume more pink grapefruits rather that white ones simply because they are sweeter. But that’s not the only difference between the two types. Pink grapefruits do contain more sugar and this makes them more nutritive, but next to higher sugar levels they also enclose different types of acids and enzymes that help our organism in more ways than we can count.
Pomelo
The pomelo is a huge citric fruit that originates from Asian regions. Some even call it the Chinese grapefruit. The first thought that comes to mind when we see a pomelo fruit is that it is undeniably an over-grown grapefruit. Pomelos look from the outside very much alike usual grapefruits, with a yellow thick peel. When opened, the fruit reveals a flesh that is surprisingly not as juicy as the flesh of other citric. Pomelos taste actually sweet compared to their close sisters, the grapefruits.
Trifoliate Oranges
The trifoliate oranges are a type of citric fruits that come from Asia. They are very close relatives of typical oranges, but they look more like an aged lemon when fully grown. They present lots of wrinkles on their greenish yellow skin, so many and in such a way that the unaccustomed buyer might regard them in a hypermarket as rotten juiced –out lemons.
Key Lime
Key Lime trees are very versatile and they can be successfully grown inside the house. If you intend to grow a key lime indoors, you will need to make sure you have the right checklist before starting the journey.
The key lime tree is a small tree that has been adapted from its sister lemon trees. It is very small, comparable to bonsai trees, and usually grown inside the house. If you want one for yourself, it’s best to buy an already developed tree, of around 2 years old. They can be bough in specialized plants stores all over the world.
Mandarin Oranges and Respiratory Diseases
Exotic remedies keep us healthy throughout the winter season. Although mandarin oranges are amongst the most unpopular fruits from the citric family, being totally eclipsed by grapefruits and oranges, scientific studies recently revealed the fact that these small and sweet tropical fruits are extremely benefic for our heath, protecting us against diseases like diabetics, arteriosclerosis and liver problems.
