Cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy can basically be described as a disease of the heart muscle. We are dealing with a deterioration noticed in the proper functioning of our myocardium. It does not matter what reason causes this. No matter the reason the condition is known as cardiomyopathy. People that suffer from this are in a lot of anger as sudden cardiac death or arrhythmia can happen at any point in time. As with any disease out there, we have to be aware of the symptoms associated in order to suspect a problem.
When dealing with cardiomyopathy there are some symptoms that usually appear. Unfortunately most diagnostics made are done by mistake at a simple routine checkup. When dealing with cardiomyopathy that is linked with hypertension we are faced with common symptoms like blurred vision, tinnitus, facial flushing, unexplained fatigue, a wish to sleep more than needed and/or head ache. If time passes and we do not take these symptoms under consideration we will be faced with them increasing and leading to end organ damage, strong head aches and blurred vision that does not allow you to see properly.
In most cases cardiomyopathy is unfortunately confused with stress, anxiety and mental tension. We must understand at all times that these three will not cause cardiomyopathy directly. Also, we have to understand that getting diagnosed in time is a huge step towards recovery. Sometimes it might be too late to save us if we keep avoiding going to a doctor. We have to recommend that you go to a routine checkup every six months in order to always make sure that your heart is strong. Also, whenever you feel strong chest pain you should immediately talk to your doctor.
Cardiomyopathi can be treated in different ways. In most situations we are dealing with defibrillators, medication, pacemakers, LVAD (ventricular assist devices) and ablation. All depends on the type of cardiomyopathy that you are suffering from. Treatment is usually aimed towards relieving symptoms and in some cases patients might actually require a heart transplant. There are also different treatment options that are currently marketed but they have no scientific proof backing them up. The only real treatments are mentioned above and a good doctor will let you know this fact. The good news is that by discovering cardiomyopathy as it started developing is a huge step in living a long and stress free life. Through treatment all can be solved if you act when you have to.
