Simple Carbohydrates

Simple carbohydrates are basically sugar types that can be located in different foods. In most situations simple carbohydrates are sweeteners that can be classified as disaccharide and monosaccharide. We have noticed that a lot of people are actually confusing these substances with complex carbohydrates. The most common forms of simple carbohydrates that you will get in contact with are lactose, glucose and sucrose.

Different foods out there include simple carbohydrates as well. The best source possible is fruit that is fresh. This includes grapefruit, berries, pears and apples. All of these foods mentioned will offer a quick lift in the levels of simple carbohydrates taken in without putting in many calories. People that want to lose weight are recommended that their simple carbohydrates intake comes from such sources. We also have to mention that it is always better to take in all nutrients needed from food rather than supplementation.

The problem is that there is one group of simple carbohydrates that is not really helpful for us if we are trying to achieve results in weight loss. Processed foods are the best example possible. This includes candy, cakes and fudge. Simple carbohydrates are known as bad carbs simply because of the content of carbohydrate that is present in such processed foods. The problem with processed foods is that the carbs you take in from them contain a lot of calories and this is not at all helpful if you are trying to lose weight.

Simple carbohydrates should also be linked with glucose levels. Sometimes managing this is not at all easy and it is crucial that we properly understand simple carbs in order to achieve this. All people out there that are currently in pre-diabetes or are suffering from diabetes need to tackle carbohydrates properly. It is highly important that we know exactly at all times what we eat. The trick stays in taking in a limited amount of carbohydrates that are simple and avoiding processed foods that contain high quantities of calories and the same quantities of simple carbohydrates as regular food sources.

Simple carbohydrates that come from a natural source are better for us when we compare with any processed food out there. We do need carbs in our diet and this means that we have to pay attention to what we eat at all times. If you take in simple carbohydrates from fruits you will gain energy while not affecting blood glucose levels in a negative way.
