Raspberry

We have all seen raspberries and most of us love their taste. On the other hand, what you probably did not know is that not all raspberries are the same. When talking about a raspberry we can be referring to any of the 8 species that are a part of the genus Rubus and subgenus Idaeobatus. This basically means that there are 8 types of raspberries, all similar and with the same properties. In most situations the raspberries that you will eat are actually Rubus idaeus and are very common in Europe. What you should know is that there are many colors of raspberries. We have purple, gold, black and red raspberries available.

Raspberries are fruits that are very good for the human body. This is because they contain a lot of vitamin C and almost everything that happens inside our body has a connection with this vitamin. You should also know that we are talking about one fruit that comes with no sodium, cholesterol or fat. This basically means that you will have no problem with consuming the fruits if you have high cholesterol problems. To make everything even better, raspberries also contain a lot of folate and iron. Also, there are various studies that have shown that ellagic acid, which is present in the fruit, can act as a cancer preventing ingredient. It has been proved that high cholesterol levels are lowered by consuming raspberries and diabetics will benefit a lot from this.

You should be aware of the fact that have a pound of raspberries can give you around 30 grams of fiber. This is enough for any adult if taken in daily. A raspberry is a great source of fiber. Remember that this only goes for ripe raspberries. In fact, all raspberries that are not ripe will not have any taste and they will not ripe after being picked. This basically means that you will need to pick these berries only when they will be fully ripe in order to enjoy their sweet taste.

Raspberries are beneficial to our body as they contain high quantities of vitamin A, potassium and calcium. In fact, 50% of how much vitamin C you must take in daily can easily be taken from eating raspberries. Whenever possible you should take into account this berry. It is available in most supermarkets around the world its ripe season. Also, a lot of people enjoy picking raspberries from their natural habitat. You might also try this.
