Raspberry Deserts
The raspberry is such a remarkable fruit and one that seriously punches well above its weight in terms of taste and its different uses. Raspberry is a favourite fruit among parents because of this, meaning that there is a higher number of different ways in which the fruit can be camouflaged so as to actually get children to eat it. Is it just me, or do children seem to have a natural “anti-fruit” detector? It seems that as soon as a piece of fruit comes within five metres of them, that alarm system is set off. Trying to persuade children to eat fruit, any fruit as any long-suffering parent will be all too aware of, is and can be a mentally draining task indeed and a crusade that, whilst noble, is inevitably doomed to failure from the very beginning.
Dessert seems to be a word in the English language that was developed specifically with children in mind. Offer fruit, and you will no doubt be firmly rejected with a high-pitched squeal of “that’s gross.” If however, you were to offer dessert then they will practically run over you in order to get to it. Hardly seems fair, does it?
Thankfully, there is a way to combine these two things together, and there is a great range of different raspberry desserts available. Why not make some raspberry cookies? No doubt parents will have read that last line and felt immensely scandalised, “I won’t feed my children such fatty food with such a high salt content!” Please note that the great thing about raspberry cookies is that the raspberry in them will provide a great degree of sweetness, which means that you do not need to include the likes of sauce or sugar in order to sweeten them up.
Another tasty combination is raspberry and white chocolate, an extremely delicious combo that is quite frankly, to die for. Just be careful that you don’t over do it or otherwise you won’t be able to pick any more berries as you won’t even be able to move!
Raspberry desserts are perfect for those people who suffer from diabetes as it will provide them with a decent amount of the appropriate sugar which can then be quickly metabolised and broken down for usage in the body.
