Cranberry Juice and Bladder Problems

Whilst the physical harm caused as a direct result of bladder problems is rather minimal this is far outweighed by virtue of the severe detrimental impact the problems have on the self-esteem and the mental well being of the sufferer. He/She will usually refrain from getting medical help due to embarrassment.

Despite being an extremely common problem suffered by women, many over-react, fearing that this is a sign of worse things to come and they convince themselves that there is something more sinister at play such as premature aging or even cancer. This would be laughable if it wasn’t such a major issue and if you are struggling to pluck up the courage to see your doctor then you may want to increase your daily intake of cranberry juice in order to help keep things under control.

Bladder problems are invariably caused by either urinary infections or incontinence and both of these can be directly attributable to bacteria that accumulate within the urethra. It should be noted that the urethra is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria.

Cranberry juice is often recommended to help clear up UTI. Please make sure that you are drinking only pure cranberry juice in order to notice the positive effects. How does pure cranberry juice help clear away UTI? Very simple! Pure cranberry juice contains hippuric acid, which lowers urine pH, thereby making it more acidic. This basically means that bacteria cannot survive or thrive within the urethra and it will prevent the bacteria from actually attaching itself to the walls of the urethra.

Because concentrated cranberry juice tends to be rather tart and bitter, you may want to make use of cranberry tablets instead so that you can avoid the unpleasant taste. Whether you decide to opt for drinking it in liquid form or consuming it as a tablet, please make sure that you consume a minimum of 400mg per day to stave away the risk of any urinary problems or bladder issues.

If you really struggle with the sour taste and don’t want to pay for the capsules/tablets, then you can make the drink contain more water. This is simply another very effective way of helping you keep symptoms under control. The reason for this is simple: more water will mean you need to urinate more!
