Forms Of Vitamin B5 For Acne

The use of vitamin B5 is not a new development in the fight on acne. Dr. Lit-Hung Leung conducted his study of Vitamin B5 and the impact on acne in 1997. This study established vitamin B5 as a possible cure for acne. Over the past eleven years, there has been much controversy over whether the treatment of acne with Vitamin B5 is even a valid cure. Why don't we look at the various forms of vitamin B5 for acne that one can take, weigh the benefits verses the cons and leave it up to you?

First, the most common form of vitamin B5 for acne consumed is a supplement. The suggested dosage to take is 10 grams. However, note, you should not start by taking the 10 grams all at once. Your body needs to work up to that dosage. So how much should you begin and how long does it take your body to get used to the dosage and allow more so that you can work your way to the 10 grams?

Begin taken a smaller dose your body needs to work up to the full dose. For the first three days, take 5 grams a day. That may sound easy however understand, taking 5 grams means that you are taking 10 pills a day. Try taking five in the morning and the other five pills in the evening. Once you have taken the smaller dose for 3 days you are then ready to begin taking the full dosage. Do remember that you will be taking a full 20 pills a day at this time.

What side effects are associated with this Vitamin B5 treatment? Good question lets review them. The most common of side effects is an upset stomach. Some also experience diarrhea and more frequent bathroom use. Chapped lips are a side effect that a lot of the people in the study experienced. Of the side effects noticed, the most imposing was hair loss. The last of the reported side effects was an increase in appetite.

Clearly, there are some associated risks with the use of taking various forms of Vitamin B5 for acne treatment. However, weighing the risks and the benefits on an individual basis is required. Is your skin's condition important enough to you to deal with taking 20 pills a day and the other various side effects mentioned? You be the judge.
