Do Zinc Supplements Help With Acne?

Zinc supplements are an important part of a healthy body. It plays a roll in structural as well as regulatory rolls within your body. Zinc can be a factor in healing injuries, growth in children, helps maintain healthy vision and is a major supportive factor in immune system functions. With all that this mineral does, is it also an effective way to help rid you of pesky acne? The answer is yes. Many medical experts believe that zinc supplements are an effective aid in ridding acne. There have been many clinical studies completed on this subject and health professionals now are saying that taking zinc supplements may be a proactive tool in fighting acne: but how? How much and how long should zinc supplements be taken? Current recommendations are zinc supplementation should be up to 30 mg twice a day for the first few months then reduced to once a day thereafter. Zinc consumption can decrease copper levels in the body. However, it is recommended that while taking zinc supplements for a prolonged time one should also take copper supplements as to not to create a deficiency in the amount of copper in your body. If you do benefit from using zinc to fight off acne, the results are not immediate. It can take as long as three months or even longer for you to see a noticeable change in the size and severity of your acne. However, like all cures and remedies it is up to you to decide if the time invested is worth it. How badly do you want to rid your body and or your face of acne? Is the unending battle worth a few months of time to see a clear change if the use of zinc works for you? The only one that decides this is you. In conclusion, zinc supplements are a choice available to you in the ongoing fight to cure acne. Some experts say that they are an effective treatment while others in the medical profession say they are not. Do they work, that is a matter of personal opinion. If you are going to try it though, realize that it is not a miracle overnight cure. In fact, quite the opposite is true. The curing of acne takes time and commitment no matter which cure you choose. Are you ready to fight for clear skin?
